Sleeping in the Library:  --  Computer systems in Library labs will enter sleep mode after ten minutes of inactivity, saving a great deal of electricity and ultimately reducing carbon emissions. To use a computer that is in sleep mode, touch any key on the keyboard and the system will quickly turn on again.

Discontinued databases:  -- The University Libraries no longer provide access to the following databases: Access Science, Annals of American History, Encyclopaedia Britannica Online, Encyclopaedia Britannica School Edition, Enciclopedia Universal en Español and World Data Analyst.

New Biography Database:   --  Users now have access to Biography Reference Bank, a database that provides biographical information on approximately half a million people, from antiquity to the present, along with thousands of images.

This resources is funded in whole or in part through an Institute of Museum and Library Services LSTA grant awarded by the State Library of Ohio, and are available to all Ohioans through Libraries Connect Ohio (LCO). LCO is a collaborative effort of OhioLINK, OPLIN, INFOhio, and the State Library of Ohio.

New database:  -- Try out Consumer Health Complete, a databse that provides convenient access to easily understandable health and medical information including medical encyclopedias, popular reference books and magazine articles.

New science resource:  --  Users now have access to Science Online, Facts on File. This database presents a broad range of scientific disciplines through extensive definitions, essays, diagrams, biographies, and experiments.

This database is funded in whole or in part through an Institute of Museum and Library Services LSTA grant awarded by the State Library of Ohio, and are available to all Ohioans through Libraries Connect Ohio (LCO). LCO is a collaborative effort of OhioLINK, OPLIN, INFOhio, and the State Library of Ohio.

Try out World Book Web:  --  World Book Web, which includes World Book Dictionary, World Book Atlas, World Book Advanced, World Book Kids, and Enciclopedia Estudiantil Hallazgos, is a suite of online research tools that delivers encyclopedia articles, primary source collections, educator tools, student activities, pictures, audio, and video, complemented by current periodicals and related Web sites.

This database is funded in whole or in part through an Institute of Museum and Library Services LSTA grant awarded by the State Library of Ohio, and are available to all Ohioans through Libraries Connect Ohio (LCO). Grove Music Online:  --  Roesch Library now subscribes to Grove Music online, which contains over 50,000 signed articles and 28,000 biographies contributed by over 6,000 scholars from around the world. This resource is compiled from The New Grove Dictionary of Music and Musicians, 2nd ed.; The New Grove Dictionary of Opera; and The New Grove Dictionary of Jazz, 2nd ed. Users also have access to the full text of the Oxford Companion to Music and the Oxford Dictionary of Music.

New catalog look:  --  Users are invited to check out the new University Libraries catalog interface and leave feedback. This live prototype will be replacing the current interface before the end of summer. New features include book images, call number texting capabilities, help links on every page, and more. Additional features will be implemented soon.

British Periodicals online:  --  Roesch Library now has access to the British Periodicals database. This source traces the development and growth of the periodical press in Britain from its origins in the seventeenth century through to the Victorian age of periodicals and beyond. This digital archive consists of 400+ periodical titles published from the 1680s to the 1930s.

Acta Sanctorum online:  --  University of Dayton faculty, staff and students now have electronic access to the complete text of Acta Sanctorum, a collection of documents examining the lives of saints. This source is organised according to each saint's feast day, and runs from the two January volumes published in 1643 to the Propylaeum to December published in 1940. This database reproduces the text from the edition published in sixty-eight volumes by the Société des Bollandistes in Antwerp and Brussels.
