FDR Commemorative Plate

Edward Dill, a UD alumnus, kept this collection of Franklin D. Roosevelt memorabilia. He died suddenly in 1953. Dill's mother, Helen, then donated it to the University.

Biographical Sketch

Edward C. Dill was born in 1911. He graduated from Steele High School and The University of Dayton. He earned a science degree from UD in 1934.

Dill was an avid collector of memorabilia related to Franklin Delano Roosevelt, the thirty-second president of the United States.

The Dayton Rubber Company hired Dill as a chemist in 1951. He died suddenly at work on the morning of February 20, 1953, at the age of 41. Dill's mother, Helen, donated his collection to UD in late 1953.

Scope and Contents

FDR Buttons

The collection is 27 linear feet. The collection consists of 17 boxes, divided into eight series. There are also 10 scrapbooks that are not contained in the series boxes. Other items not in boxes include: two framed prints, a framed photograph, and two pennants. There were also two boxes and several folders that were not included with the collection.

The collection series are as follows:
