7E-Bradmiller, Lionel F., Collection-- Small amount of family- and University of Dayton-related materials which were received from the estate of Lionel F. Bradmiller (Class of 1925). The three Bradmiller brothers (Frederick, Edwin, and Lionel) attended St. Mary's Institute/the University of Dayton Preparatory/ the University of Dayton; a list of their years of attendance is included in Folder 1 of this collection. Various certificates and diplomas received by each of them are included here. Some UD- related artifacts from Mr. Bradmiller's home were also received; these are listed with the Box List for his collection (with indication of their location). The Bradmillers, especially Lionel, were steady benefactors of the university. Lionel died on February 7, 1985; he willed half of his estate to the university immediately and the remainder upon the death of other beneficiaries.
7E-Carmody, William H., Papers-- Includes 2 letters to Doctor William Wohlleben, professor of Chemistry, photographs, and reprints of 2 articles co-authored by Carmody.
7E-Dickman, Joseph Theodore, 1856-27-- Scrapbook of newspaper articles relating career of Major General Joseph T. Dickman. Reprint of article on Dickman from the Ohio State Archeological and Historical Quarterly. Microfilm copy of a thesis by Sister Mary Clement Stueve, Major General Joseph T. Dickman: His Life and Military Career. Dickman attended St. Mary's Institute for one year.
7E-Quatman, Joseph-- This series contains correspondence and memorabilia of Joseph Quatman, U.D. Alumni. The folder contains photocopies of 2 letters located in 6A(1)-student correspondence and various items located in room 315. The location is noted on the photocopies.
7E-Rist, Donald-- Pages photocopied from a dismounted scrapbook which belonged to Donald Rist, Class of 1944. The current location of each original item is indicated on the back of the respective photocopied pages; photocopied items dated from 1938-44. A UD postcard from 1944 reflects clearly the influence of WWII on college students of that time. (see 6A(1). The scrapbook was delivered to the University Archives by M. Bridget Cloran, a UD Student and granddaughter to Mr. Rist.
7E-Whelan, Bernard L.-- An aviation pioneer, Bernard L. Whelan (1890-1983) graduated (Business) from St. Mary's Institute in 1908. He was one of the "Early Birds" (persons who flew solo before December 17, 1916), and he spent his career in the aviation industry. (See folder with information about his life.) Mr Whelan had a fine collection of books and other materials related to the early history of aviation; these he promised to his daughter who agreed they would come to U.D. after her death. His widow, Blanche Whelan, sent one small box of materials to U.D., in 1986. Included here are some correspondence related to the Aviation Hall of Fame; miscellaneous copies of "Early Bird" and other aviation-related materials; photographs of airplanes and people involved with Mr. Whelan during his lifelong career; and a booklet 1922] with articles written by the Wright Brothers.
7ED Distinguished Alumni Award
7ER Alumni in Priesthood and Religious Life -- List of UD Alumni (and former students) who entered priesthood and religious life, 1850-1970. It was on display in Chaminade Hall for years; it was updated in 1970. Display was dismantled in 1982. Bro. Elmer Lackner, S.M., forwarded list to archives.

Entries for the endowment funds list name of donor, amount received, address of donor, name of solicitor, and remarks, as well as date and acknowledgement.
7GG Planned Giving/ (1987) Major Gift Planning, scholarship brochures, and other publications Various materials including Scholarship Fund brochures, "Fund-Raising Survey Report: Prepared for University of Dayton (December 29, 1969), etc. One folder of correspondence (from January 1957) between Bro. Elmer Lackner, S.M., then-director of Public Relations, and Mr. George B. Quatman, regarding the University of Dayton Foundation Fund. Mr. Quatman was among the original trustees of that endowment fund. These letters reveal some historical background on it; they were sent to Cletus Oberst, Director of Planned giving, on December 12, 1988, by Joseph B. Quatman (George's son).

@(2) Schedule of Events/ Calendar of Events (1966- 1972, 1978-86)-- University Communications (formerly called Public Relations Department, Information Services) now publishes a monthly "Calendar of Events" which is sent out about once a month in advance to various public media centers and offices on campus. The archives collection begins (November 1978) with the monthly "Announcement" of events put out by Information Services/University Communications; these predated the current "Calendar of Events" which University Communications began in February 1981 in its present format (although this is not always maintained exactly). Note: The Public Relations Department published a "Schedule of Events" From 1966-72: also classified as
7JA(2). The Information Center, University Relations, Union Activities/University Activities Organization also published a "Schedule of Events: dating from the early 1970s; its has gone through a number of different formats: see 5KU(1).

7R(1)Information File-- Files kept by Information Services regarding UD's athletic program. Clippings, new releases, articles, etc. 1960-69.
7R(2) St. Mary's Athletic Association/ U.D. Athletic Association -- Typescript of St. Mary's Athletic Association Board of Directors meetings for the years 1908-09 and 1909-10. Matters discussed include appointments of managers, purchase of equipment, and awarding of prizes. Received from Joe McLaughlin, Alumni Placement Office. Original longhand minutes were in Harry Baujan's possession, but are now lost. This classification also includes photocopies of correspondence between managers of St. Mary's Athletic Association and Wittenberg College Athletic Association (late 1911 through October 1912). Matters discussed include scheduling of games/meets, selection of game officials, setting of admission fees, exchanges over a missing football. Photocopies were received from Mr. Bob Lee Mowery, Wittenberg University Library. Two financial record books of the Athletic Association:
1). S.M.I. Athletic Association: High School Athletics, 1918-19, 1919-20, and College Athletics 1918-19 through 1919-20.
2). University of Dayton Athletic Association: 1924-29: contains financial statements and athletic records, all sports, 1924-29; Ruling on Awards; All Letter Men Lists 1903- .* (Actually, only lettermen from 1920-27 are listed).
7RB Basketball (information by and about) HF-- Miscellaneous publications related to basketball at the University of Dayton (other than press books and game programs). Includes memorial tribute to Tom Blackburn, banquet programs, season schedules, newspaper articles, and statistics, posters and scrapbooks (1963/64, 1965/66, 1966/67). Some of these items were found in the Fieldhouse in 1985.

(1) Scorebook, 1966-- This series contains the University of Dayton Baseball Score book, March 3, 1966-April 26, 1966.
7RF Football --Various publications related to football at the University of Dayton (other than press books and game programs). Includes Souvenir book from Salad Bowl (1952), First Ohio Collegiate Football Record Book (compiled by U.D.), and copies of several lengthy 1925 newspaper articles about the Stadium and its dedication. Two football scrapbooks--one from 1924, kept by Walter Achiu (Class of 1926) and one from Howard Lansdowne (Class of 1941) were found in the Fieldhouse in 1985, along with a large envelope ("Harry Baujan/Univ of Dayton") with folders of newspaper clippings about UD football (1939-1943). Another scrapbook (source unclear) was given at a later date.

(1) Women's Athletics -- Material related to the history of Women's Athletics at UD. Received from Dr. Elaine Dreidame and Dr. Doris Drees. Includes a 27 page history (1935 -85) prepared by Dr. Dreidame for the 50th anniversary of coeducation at UD and other materials she collected and used for this project. Also includes a WAA letter (rm 315), and a ticket to the NCAA 1984 Women's Division II Basketball Championship Quarterfinal game (rm 315), and a scrapbook (1950s) form Dr. Drees.

Collection consists of eighty-five scrapbooks received via Information Services (predecessor of University Communications). Eighty volumes (1906-77) were microfilmed in 1982. Five (early, less organized) volumes were not microfilmed. Emphasis throughout is heavily on sports and sports figures, but even those scrapbooks devoted mainly to sports frequently include some other articles (e.g., obituaries of students or faculty, dedication ceremonies, military or Marianist visitors, Holy Name rallies, wedding announcements, speakers on campus, faculty and administrative appointments, commencements, musical or dramatic presentations, etc.). Volume 14 is a compilation of articles related to the Albert Emanuel Library, Albert and Victor Emanuel; Volume 15 also contains some Emanuel information. Scrapbooks designated as
"Academic" contain miscellaneous articles on students and alumni, their activities, achievements, etc. See box lists for general overview and microfilm indications.
