document the Department of Retailing. In existence from 1951 through 1963, under the
chairmanship of Charles W. Whalen, Jr., the department's program included a cooperative
part-time retail program. Among the materials delivered to the Archives by Dr. Harry
Murphy, then outgoing chairman of the Department of Marketing, are: draft statements on
the cooperative retail program, department minutes, progress reports, promotional
materials, and copies of "The Retailer" (Retailing Department/ Club newsletter).
